Based in County Meath, Ireland, this six screen, independent cinema’s web site offers movie lovers an up-to-date programme of screenings and real-time ticket purchasing. But with their web site producing poor online sales, the business owner was eager to see what I could do help turn things around.
Disappointed with their existing web site and the low conversion rates it provided, Showtime Cinemas commissioned me to completely revamp their online presense with the specific objective of increasing online sales.
Like many independent cinemas, my client had opted for a commondity web site provided by a “specialist” cinema web site provider – offering a low cost web presense funded by third party on-page advertising.
Inevitably this provided a web site which simply didn’t represent my client’s business and provided a poor customer experience with more than 70% of the screen being filled with advertising for irrelevant services.
As a result their site was simply driving prospective their customers away.
Using their existing brand identity I delivered an exciting new layout with visually engaging branding and clear messaging which directs customers toward Showtime Cinemas’ conversion goals.
Adding rich media features – including rotating homepage banner and integrated video trailers both of which are managed in-house via a content management system – the new design provides an emersive experience and supports the customer in their buying decision rather than bombarding them with irrelevant advertising.

With a greater emphasis being placed on the booking calls to action and clearly demarked showtimes, the new site continues to deliver a fantastic boost in online sales while reducing pressure on box office staff.
